Customer issues
Lack of control over mine safety operations.
In particular, the following were missing:
- Threat analysis
- Risk analysis
- A global safety concept
- Skills monitoring
- Measuring criminal activity
- Local and global visibility
- Decision-making tools
APM’s actions
Firstly, APM audited and visited every site in the country, which is 12 times the size of France.
APM then formalised the threats and risks to which the Customer was exposed.
This has led to the definition of a prioritised 5-year action plan.
APM has trained the management team (more than 300 people) with models of conduct specific to their role.
APM was present at all the sites for 10 days a month for a year to reinforce the security of the mines.
APM deployed the SecuTools and eTnT software tools to regain operational control and obtain detailed local and global views.
This has made it possible to measure criminal actions and the results of the security measures applied.
APM remotely managed weekly coordination sessions (TEAMS), ensuring that the project ran smoothly.
APM designed the checkpoints, ensuring in particular:
- Managing the flow of people, vehicles and goods
- The design of the control and search processes corresponding to these flows
- Managing invitations to tender and implementing precious metal detection equipment
- Instructing trainers in the widespread use of eTnT SecuTools in OHS and production departments
- Setting up a management training programme
The results obtained by APM
and added value for the customer
- An objective view by the Customer of a particularly complex situation
- The ability to prioritise the allocation of resources according to the urgency of the situations highlighted
- Construction of physical checkpoints (managed by APM)
- Standardised protection for all gold extraction and storage sites
- Management of > 2,000 events and > 70,000 checklists via eTnT and SecuTools
- Vision and management of strategic security risks via eTnT and SecuTools
- Holding all key people accountable
- A significant reduction in the theft of gold from recovery facilities through systematic monitoring with eTnT
- Systematic monitoring and measurement of working hours for > 700 security guards in all mines
- Greater on-site autonomy for safety managers, resulting in a drastic reduction in the time taken to deal with any problems encountered
- Production of key performance indicators (dashboards)
- Saving of > 70 hours in overall staff control time at checkpoints (> 600 people)
